It is the time of the year again, when band members, seniors and juniors dressed up smartly in their uniforms. Boots and shoes polished; tunics and skirts or trousers ironed… it’s the Annual Passing-out Parade of SMJK Nan Hwa Band. School staff, parents, students, ex-members and parents gathered in the school hall of SMJK Nan Hwa to witness the ceremony.
The ceremony started at 7.00pm with the opening address by the SMJK Nan Hwa principal, Mr. Ng Chai Kiat followed by speeches from the Chairman of PIBG SMJK Nan Hwa and the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr Beh Han Ping and Dr Chua.
Next is the Presentation of Souvenirs to the Out-going Members and the Presentation of Excellent Service Awards ceremony. This year, there are a total of 20 out-going members from the Form 5 and Form 6. There are also a total of 30 members receiving the Excellent Service Awards. The souvenirs and awards are a token of appreciation and honour to the graduating members and the members who have performed outstandingly in the year 2008. In groups of three, the members marched in with pride, saluted smartly, and received their souvenir/award.
The programme of the night continues with the second half of the Passing-out Parade – the Concert Presentation by the band. This year, we were happy to welcome two visiting bands, which are: Chong Hwa High School Band, Kuala Lumpur; and Pei Hwa High School Band, Muar. The Concert Presentation started off with the SMJK Nan Hwa Concert Band (Group C) performing three songs, followed by a performance by the Pei Hwa High School Band, performance by SMJK Nan Hwa Concert Band (Group A + B), performance by Chong Hwa High School Band, and finally ending with a performance by the whole SMJK Nan Hwa Concert Band.
